D12 - Faster than a Fieldmouse?

You betcha! Procrastinated big time tonight on getting D12 in the books, but refused to fall asleep til I forced myself out the door. It had started raining lightly when I left, so a light (Akron Marathon) jacket was in order, and I really felt like a million bucks once I was running. The hardest part was sticking to my plan of only 3.8 miles and not stretching it out to my 1/4 marathon loop.

On the return leg, coming down one rain slicked street, I noticed a little field mouse out in the pavement scurrying away from me (presumably at full speed, why scurry away any slower?) He was dark and almost blended in with the road so I looked real close to see that it wasn't a visual trick, or something else just blowing down the street, but it was Mr. Mouse. So, I raced him. I cranked it up and somewhere around 80-90% of my full out speed I was catching him, before he wised up and darted into a rain sewer drain gate.

Kept to the plan and now I am going to try to sleep just a few hours before getting up to run with Mr. Don Baun, whom I know I am not faster than, at least over the long run. I might be able to beat him to the snack bar from the couch...
